What’s on Mitt Romney’s Action Plan Should He Become President?
Yesterday, Mitt Romney vowed that if elected he would eliminate Planned Parenthood. This is no surprise since Romney has to play to the fringe of the Republican party if he has any hopes of becoming president. It is likely he’ll want to be reelected thus he’s likely to bend over backwards to please the fringe of the Republican party in order to secure a second term in office for himself. Every day, Republicans open a new front in their war on women with ideas such as trying to shut down Planned Parenthood.
Mitt Romney In His Own Words:
“Is the program so critical that it is worth borrowing money from China to pay for it?” Romney asked. “And on that basis, of course you get rid of ObamaCare, that’s the easy one. But there are others: Planned Parenthood, we’re going to get rid of that. The subsidy for Amtrak, I would eliminate that. The National Endowment for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Humanities, both excellent programs, but we can’t afford to borrow money to pay for these things.”
Will Mitt Romney’s statements alienate women? Chances are pretty good that it may hurt his chances with Republican women and definitely will alienate independent women voters.
Are Republicans & Mitt Romney Planning to Attack Women’s Rights?
To quote the “Magic 8 Ball” “All sings point to yes.”
As a matter of fact it’s already starting as Republican senators are threatening to block the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), which investigates and prosecutes violent crimes against women. These attacks never seem to end, and it’s jaw-dropping that Republicans would be against a bill that helps protect women. The Partisanship on the part of the Republican party has reached a fever pitch as they are against anything and everything that originates, or is even supported, by the White House and Democrats et al.
What Other Plans Do Republicans and Mitt Romney Propose?
Let us not forget that should Mitt Romney, or any of the Republican candidates, be elected President they will have the power to appoint supreme court Judges. With the court already leaning slightly to the right it, should we end up with a Republican president it’s a sure bet that the balance of power on the Supreme Court would shift heavily to the right and Rov v. Wade could well be overturned.
Even worse, it wouldn’t be a surprise to anyone if President Romney appointed a Supreme Court Judge who identifies himself as a member of the Tea Party.
Mitt Romney is having quite a few problems securing the nomination of his party but in the end he will be nominated and depending on the mood of the country in November he could beat President Obama in the general election.
