Newt Gingrich Claims He’s Dropping Out Of Primary
Newt Gingrich, the man who claimed he would not drop out of the race and would go all the way to the Republican Convention has essentially said that he’s dropping out of the race.
CNN’s Mark Preston reports that he spoke with Gingrich and his Campaign Manager who have confirmed that Gingrich has done his last rally for the primary race for president which leave presumptive nominee Mit Romney as the presumptive nominee.
Why is Newt Gingrich Dropping Out
I guess the $16,000 question is why is Newt Gingrich, who swore up and down that he was going all the way to the GOP Convention dropping out. Did Gingrich strike up a deal with Mitt Romney for a cabinet position, contingent on Romney winning the Presidency?
Was Gingrich promised something more from Romney, if anything at all?
Obviously nobody can answer those questions except for Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich and possibly their most trusted advisors.
So Who Is Left in the Primary Race
Realistically only Mitt Romney is left out of the field of Republicans, and Libertarians. It is not exactly clear where Ron Paul stands with his Presidential aspirations.
Nevertheless Mitt Romney will be the Republican nominee for the Presidential election.
As for Ron Paul and his campaign for the nomination goes, Paul never truly expected to win. Ron Paul went on the presidential primary tour in order to get on TV and spread his own brand of politics to the public. This has worked well for Ron Paul and not the first time he’s done it.
In the end, whatever Ron Paul does or doesn’t do has not effect on Mitt Romney who is now officially the presumptive nominee for the Republicans if Newt Gingrich follows through and gets out of the primary race next week as he promised..
